Rant from a news dude...

Critique of my industry. It has just gotten so bad, that it has to be said. We can do better.

Crowdsourced journalism via Twitter and Reddit has matured to become an ecosystem that fact checks itself. It took too many blunders on social media for us to be where we are at now, but the community has matured. This week has hit the cross roads where news agencies have to perfect their collection of facts via new media and report 24/7 with higher standards that we give ourselves as a community, yet operate faster that viral. Can it be done? I say yes. Because let's be honest. The news is broken.
